Ian Briggs, one of the finest blues harmonica players in the world, has run his own band for several years. Recent performances by the band have been at the St Ives Festival, The Gloucester International Blues Festival, Forest of Dean Festival, Cork Jazz Festival, The Wallingford Blues Festival & The Exeter Vibraphonic Festival.
Ian has recorded and toured with many artists over the years including Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake), Eddie Martin, Michael Roach and Savoy Brown. In an illustrious past he also played with the legendary Yardbirds (yes Clapton was in the band at the time!). The band’s guests have included the late great Dick Hexstall-Smith on sax and Doc Fingers from Vancouver on piano & vocals.
The current album 'Blues Avenue' has received extensive reviews and airplay in Europe and North America reaching no.52 in the U.S. Blues chart.
This is “real” blues played with total commitment - to be at one of Ian’s gigs is to marvel at just how good this music really is.
Ian is also availble for harmonica workshops that are suitable for all ages and levels of development
Ian Briggs and Jim Crawford Two of the best musicians in Britain today, playing together - what a treat! Generally available, just ask.
Our View We haven’t heard a better blues harmonica player in years and the current band is just packed full of virtuoso musicians. This is “real” blues – not the stuff you hear down the Dog & Duck on a drunken Friday night. To be at one of Ian’s gigs is to marvel at just how good this music is
